Night Sweat

Waking from a night sweat
I find myself swaddled in the dream of you.
A dream of salt from your torso
On my tongue,
From mixing bones with souls
On a mountain, mid a storm,
So long ago.

Why wake me now Thelchtereia from your grave?
A reminder to be faithful? True?
Didn't I tell you?
You were fantastic to love!
You spoke my language with your kisses, your hips.
The sound of your breath deafened me,
Pulled me to the rocks.

Lovers, stop your mistake,
Run to the roof and scream,
"You are fantastic to love!"
Whisper it from your hips.
Drown your lover.

I was sure I'd sung of you long enough to sleep,
Instead, I shudder from our once but distant thunder.

Now is late.
I've not the strength for holding beauty
Up to my life to judge the better.
